New Years

It is that time of year again! Late nights and sparkling drinks. Or, if you are my family, normal bed time and change the calender in the morning.

This year is proving to be far more interesting. At least for me. A real new year's celebration. Unlike the past few years, which involved watching movies with my brother and watching the ball drop on TV.

Anyway, Maybe I should just leave it all in suspense and discuss afterwards... (insert evil laugh)

On a different note, Visited grandparents and watched a swim meet. All set! Have fun, be safe, and be good.

Make the creative juices flow...

Ever felt like writing something completely pointless, but not sure where to begin or if you can keep it going? Well, I have the solution. RPG's! While I used to scorn and laugh at the thought of a Role Playing Game, I have now recanted my former views. I have found that if you can write a good story, you can be very good at RPG's.

However, there are some rules to follow:
1. Never put words in another character's mouth. Only say what your character says. You can reiterate other dialogue from previous posts, but do not talk for them.
2. It is best to use your point of view, that way hints for continuation can pop up and be used by others. Hint for questions, answers, and action.
3. Don't be boring! Treat it like novel, but with many different authors.
4. This is just a suggestion. Do only one. This keeps you focused and gives you time for the real important stuff, like school and work.

So, if you follow these simple rules, your creativity, and possible light for a story, can be found and/or fullfilled. WARNING: RPG's are not for everyone. No one by any means should rush off and join the first one you find. Establish yourself and get invited in, then seamlessly fit yourself into the story, respect will continue, and the fun will begin!

Irish eyes smiling

I want to thank Meghan Whitney for being so gracious. She has agreed to show me and a friend how to Step dance! I have had an interest in this for a while, and now I finally get to learn! Happy me.

This will most likely be my shortest blog ever.

The squirrels had better watch out

I just love making up titles. It can be sooo easy to mislead everyone. Sadly, this is not one of those cases. This title actually has something to do with this blog. Imagine that!

Alright. So, my brother went to Dick's Sporting Goods recently and bought an Air Soft gun. His takes batteries and can fire automatically. He also got a target to shoot at. All sticky and such, so he can reuse the plastic BB's. Here comes the part about me. Dad also got a gun, only this one is single fire, and totally spring loaded. No batteries needed. Why he got it, I haven't the faintest idea, because he simply gave it to Conor. Which, Conor then gave to me!

That's right! I, your favorite look-alike now owns an air soft pistol! I'm not that bad of a shot either (watch it on the laughter). If it doesn't involve judging distance, I can do it.

Now you probably want to know what it looks like. Well, I won't be taking a picture yet, so here is a short description:

Clear and black plastic, with weights, spring can be seen. Two interchangeable cartridges that hold 20 rounds each. Single fire Pistol-shaped, and Tons of fun (only shot with it once).

When all else fails, blame California

A new take-off on "Blame Canada".

I had my first "Show" if you will with my Ventriloquist puppet last night. Overall, it could have been worse. I now know what kind of direction to go in. Jokes about Maine seem to hit the spot (notice the title). Of course, I only do it for a minute or two, but that is all I need...For now.

If you didn't know already, my puppet's name is Chelsea, and she is from England. So, as of right now, She is sassy, with an accent. Room for much laughter :)

Another thing you might be wondering. Why so short? Well, the answer is quite simple. I did a short introduction for my Hillbilly Band. That is why. We then proceeded to do one of our longest shows. The sign outside said:

4:30- Town Turkey Supper
7pm-Concert Beecher Boys and Girls

Concert?!?!?!?! THAT is a bit of a stretch! We are FAAAAAARRRRR from concert quality. Ha!!!!!

We took many pictures of us all together in front of the sign for our site I guess. Not much has been happening there since the guy who took care of it moved away. I know I have no idea how to do anything with it. I can barely do this (just kidding)!

A day in the Life of a Lifeguard

7am-I get up to my alarm

7:30am-I check e-mail and what is goingon in my SW world. Plus all the other stuff

9am-grab my bike to go to work.

9:15-aproximate arrival at work.

9:30 to 11:30am-teach swim lessons.

11:30 to 12:45-break at the library.

1 to 4pm-General swim. Yell and scream at kids to behave. (okay, that was exaggerated)

Most days I get to go home at this time. On other days, it changes. Especially if there is an accident. This usually means bodily fuctions. Like last night. A baby swallowed too much pool water over the course of an hour and vomited in the pool. YUCK. So much for being home at 7... Chlorine will be high this morning. Maybe no lessons. Maybe no work! No phone call yet. Don't hold out much hope.

hopefully this will explain why I am tired of this job and simply want to go bavk to school. I say ash123 is lucky. All she has to worry about IS school. Then again, I am in college. What do I know? Some would say nothing. some would say I think I know everything. I say my SISTER thinks she know everything.

End of rant.

Looks are all we got in common right now

You all know why I have this screen name. Sad to say, it is only looks. I do not have the leadership skills of a princess, nor would I ever really want to be one. I like my quiet little life here in the small town of Orono.

today, after three weeks of trial supervisor, my director and director of rec programs told ever so nicely that it was not going to work. Apparently from lack of communication. Personally, I am slightly relieved. I was having far more stress that I wanted. But I was also sad that it had taken this long to tell me. I could have used some pointers, some help. Instead I was on my own to learn what to know and do.

This does not change my pay or standing as a lifeguard, just some pride. I did cry some I'll admit, but I knew I had to pull together, as I had to guard. However I really wish I had been given some knowledge earlier. With some pointers early on, I can fix what is wrong. It's how I learn (a music thing) I try one way, and want feedback. I had thought that since there had been none, I was fine. Oh well, maybe later. I had really not wanted to come back, but I had no choice. I think next summer I will be trying harder to find a different job.
