Fun in the Sun (just don't get burned)

I work all day watching kids swim, testing them, collecting money, selling sweet cold treats, enforcing the rules...OMG! I'm a Pool Mod!!!!! Differences-I get paid.

I've had this job for 4 years. This year, a promotion. More responsibility. Okay, I can do this. Will do this. Then, at home I can relax, pull up a chair and enjoy my hobbies of Star wars, reading and Knitting.

What do I find? Star wars Mods and members having problems? I jump in waist deep. THINK!

I'm out. I understand. Make my statements, and try to go back to enjoying again. Wear my shirts with pride and laughter. And be all around pleased.

Back to work, got sunburned, but I've got sunscreen, and a cool, cloudy day.

Gosh! To much stuff and unknown skills

Man!! The minute you show up for work is the minute things start to get BUSY. On my first day as Supervisor, nothing went, wrong (I was in charge for 1 hour). I had some pricing questions and some "how do you do this?" from fellow lifeguards. So, overall, not bad. The real challenge comes later.

As a supervisor, I get two days off in a row. But, I also get salary, which means the same amount each week no matter how much I work. This also means that two days out of the week, I must come early and stay later. Why? The director is having her days off.

I just hope today she gets me the keys and possibly a list of what needs to happen for opening and closing. Then, I should be all set for my new adventure; taking responsibility. Not that I haven't before, just not on this large of a scale. Almost makes me wish I could spent more time here, but as it is, won't be happening. Bad enough I started three short stories. One is finished (for the fanfic challenge), and the others are for when I finish them.

Tomorrow, Friday, and Saturday, I am off. What to do? What ever I want to. Gosh. (just saw Napoleon Dynamite for he first time. The dumbest movie I have ever seen)

Weekends, jobs and birthdays

So this week, my mom asked us if we wanted to go to our camp. I quickly said YES as I usually don't get a chance to go down there more than once. Maybe this year will be different. I got the promotion I had been hoping for. Which means higher pay, 2 days off in a row, and more responsibility. But hey, after four years, I know my way around the pool as well as the director, whom I am friends with (we went to school and did sports together).

Now that I know I will get to camp, there is only thing left to make it better. MY BIRTHDAY! Yes, this Friday, the 16th, I will be leaving teenagerhood and entering the realm of my twenties. My gram still can't believe it, and my gramp has to be reminded constantly. He's not forgetful or really hard of hearing, we like to say he has "selective hearing". He listens when he is interested and/or wants to.

On a similar note, my job starts on Monday, and will go until the end of August. So, as such, my blog time will be severely limited and sparse. Plus I am planning a new angle to ad to the hillbilly band I am in. I won't spoil the fun for you until it is finalized, but, if you read one of the earlier entries, you might get a hint. I won't say unless someone figures it out. And I may not say even if someone does.

Aunts, cousins, and a wedding

Saturday was a different kind of day. My dad, brother and I all piled into the car in dress clothes on a rainy morning for a two hour drive north to the town of Holtoun. Once there, We went to visit my grandparents. Some of my dad sisters were also there. one of them, Michelle, was up from Florida.

Later, Michelle and I went next door to another brother's house for girly fun. Two of my cousins who are about the same age as me were there and doing nails. Another two aunts were there as well. We had fun choosing colors and jabbering.

Later, my uncle came in and turned on the TV and the DVR to show me something they had taped. It was a ventriloquist/comedian. MAN was he FUNNY! I hadn't laughed that hard in a long time. They later showed it again to more people, and I laughed just as hard the second time.

At about 2pm, we finally left for the main event, aka, the reason we came up. My cousin Matt's wedding. The funny thing about this is that Matt has an identical twin brother, Tom. As of right now the only difference is the hair cut. Once I knew who had which one, I could tell them apart.

I had fun for the time we spent at the reception. We left early so we would get home at a decent hour. The actual ceremony was no more than ten minutes long, the rest was fun.

Boy do I need my job to start, I am starting to get bored. Oh yeah, my sister graduates today.

A Day in the Life of my Father

Yesterday was a different kind of day. Instead of sitting around, being on the Internet, and watching TV all day, I went to work with my dad.

My dad is a carpenter and he works for himself. So the only other people he works with are family and occasionally a friend who is from the Ukraine. So he can get lonely on a job. He asked me if I wanted to come and help him. I said sure. We left around 8:30 and headed to a porch-building project in Veazie; not far from where we live (just the next town over). We managed to get the two beams built and one up before lunch. But then realized that one of the beams, (the one not up) was too crooked to be used.

We then proceeded to The Home Depot for wood. As we were parking, we met one of my uncles. My dad has 12 other siblings, but this uncle was the spouse to my father's youngest sister. We talked for a little while, got our wood and bought lunch at shaws (yoghurt, strawberries and peanut butter cookies). It wasn't until after lunch that my dad realized he had gotten the wrong size! So we went BACK to Home depot and got the right size. By this time it was raining, so we finished putting up the beam and went to visit a friend nearby for a while, then went home. By this time it was 4pm and I took a shower. Of course, blogger was down so I had to wait to tell you all about this fun day.

Summer Fun

It is now June. It is now the month where everything is BUSY. Meaning, that my family has MANY things to do. Meaning, my sister is graduating.

Ah, I remember last year, at this time, I was graduating. The excitement, the boredom, the anticipation. The wondering when it would end. I was bored at school, I had been accepted to college for months, I just wanted to get OUT. I was #5 in my class, top female student of my class, I got TONS of scholarship, LETS GET THIS OVER WITH AND LET ME MOVE ON!!!!! Anyway, It was soon over, I was done. DONE. Ready for my next big step.

I just hope my sister is ready as well. She is also excited, but spends her free time hiding away in her room, which we fondly call "The Harry Potter Closet". We offered her the real cupboard under the stairs, but for some reason she did not want it. ;)

I just got notification for my summer job. I got two weeks left, and then, the pool opens. Kids start to test you, the new director, new staff. And I begin to wonder, Who will be assistant Director? I have a funny feeling, and yet, no notification of any change in my status, but, still, anything could happen.
